SDS-Plus shanks are 10mm diameter with 2 grooves; SDS-Max shanks are 18mm with 3 grooves. SDS-Plus bits won't fit SDS-Max hammers and vice versa.
How long should an SDS drill bit last?
On 8-12mm carbide bits, expect 200-500 holes in standard concrete before the carbide tip needs replacement or the bit is retired. Rebar drilling and abrasive masonry shorten this significantly.
